Healthy Microbes Grow Healthy Plants.
Excellent Replacement for Chemical Fertilizers
SoCal BioAmendments produces living microbial compost and freshly-brewed liquid soil amendments — microscope-verified, crafted, and applied throughout San Diego County to bring Southern California landscapes back to life.
New to soil microbes?
Most people have never been taught how soil microbes feed and protect plants — and switching away from synthetic fertilizers can feel risky. It isn't. Our compost and extracts are safe, simple to apply, and a great way to experiment in your own garden. We're here to help you learn the microbes and grow with confidence.
Our standard
Living compost you can see, smell, and feel.
Living microbial compost is compost whose bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and beneficial nematodes are still alive and working — we verify that community under the microscope before it leaves our site.
Pick up a handful of our compost and you'll notice the difference right away — cool, moist, and alive with the earthy smell of a healthy forest floor. That's a working microbial community, not the dry, dusty bagged stuff that's been sitting on a pallet. Trained under Dr. Elaine Ingham, we produce it for residential landscapes, orchards, and high-value vineyards.

Soil Food Web method
Crafted using the principles taught by Dr. Elaine Ingham — the gold standard for restoring biological function to depleted soils.
Built for SoCal
Formulated for our climate, water, and native plant palette — from coastal bluffs to inland landscapes.
We serve all of San Diego County.
From coastal Carlsbad and Encinitas to inland Poway, Escondido, and Ramona — we deliver living compost and brew extract on your property.
The Soil Food Web
Healthy plants begin with the right microbes — in the right ratios.
Bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and beneficial nematodes form an underground economy that delivers nutrients, suppresses disease, and structures the soil. Our compost and extracts inoculate that economy with the species your plants actually want.

What we offer
Three ways to bring microbes to your soil.
Compost extract is a water-borne brew of those same living microbes, applied to soil or foliage so the community reaches roots you can't dig into — established lawns, trees, and beds.
SolidMicrobe-Rich Compost
Microscope-verified thermophilic compost — bagged from ½-gallon samples up to 3-gallon bags. The foundation for any soil regeneration project.

Ditch the lawn chemicals — we'll match your chemical application price.
A new report highlights how herbicides and pesticides are being sprayed on lawns, parks, and school grounds where children play. Our on-site compost extract application is a safe, effective alternative that feeds soil microbes instead of suppressing weeds with chemicals.

Frequently asked
No storefront. All of San Diego County.
We're a service-area business — compost is produced on a 15-acre property and delivered (or applied on-site) throughout the county. Here's what people ask most.
Do you have a storefront I can visit?+
No — SoCal BioAmendments is a service-area business. We produce compost on a 15-acre property and deliver throughout San Diego County, or you can arrange a pickup by appointment. There is no retail storefront.
What areas of San Diego County do you serve?+
We serve all of San Diego County, including San Diego, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Solana Beach, Poway, Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Oceanside, La Jolla, Chula Vista, El Cajon, Ramona, Fallbrook, Valley Center, Alpine, and surrounding communities. Delivery is typically available within about 50 miles.
What do you mean by "living compost"?+
Living compost is exactly what it sounds like — compost that is teeming with living microbes. When you pick up a handful of ours, it feels cool, moist, and earthy, with a rich forest-floor smell. That's the sign of an active microbial community: bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and beneficial nematodes still doing their work. Dry, dusty, odorless compost is the opposite — it's been cooked, bagged, or stored so long that the biology is gone. You can feel and smell the difference.
How is your compost different from what I can buy at a garden center?+
Ours is alive. Every batch is examined under the microscope to verify it is a complete living soil food web — meaning it contains the bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and beneficial nematodes that make up a functioning Soil Food Web. Most bagged garden-center compost has been sterilized, heat-treated, or sitting on a pallet long enough that the microbes are gone. Living compost inoculates your soil; dead compost is just organic matter.
Can you apply the compost extract for me?+
Yes. We brew the extract on your property and apply it fresh — as a soil drench, hose application, or foliar spray — so the microbes stay alive and active. Freshly brewed and applied on-site is the only way to guarantee the microbes are still working when they hit your soil.
Do you work with landscapers and growers, or just homeowners?+
Both. We supply landscape contractors, farmers, orchard managers, and vineyard operators with bulk compost and on-site extract applications, and we work directly with homeowners on residential gardens. Volume pricing and recurring delivery schedules are available.
Is the compost safe for organic gardens, edibles, and pets?+
Yes. Our compost and extracts contain only microbes and the food sources used to grow them — no synthetic chemicals, no pesticides, no fertilizer salts. Safe for vegetable gardens, fruit trees, pets, and children.
